S.S. South American
SOUTH AMERICAN backing away from dock. Built at Ecorse, MI in 1914 for the Chicago, Duluth & Georgian Bay Transit Company (Georgian Bay Line) for passenger-only cruises. Superstructure burned in ordinary at Holland, Michigan in September, 1924 and was rebuilt that winter to the original plans. Second (dummy) funnel added. Sold, fall, 1967 to Seamen's International Union. Taken to east coast and engines and boilers removed, but never used as intended at the seamen's school at Piney point, MD. Scrapped in 1992 after years of decline and partial collapse of the superstructure.

S.S. Put-in-Bay
PUT-IN-BAY 3/4 view at dock with crowd. Built at Wyandotte, MI in 1911 for Ashley & Dustin for service Detroit to Put-in-Bay, Cedar Point and Sandusky. Ran frequently to Port Huron in final years. Last season, 1951. Sold for debt, 1953, and in October, 1953 burned in Lake St. Clair preparatory to scrapping of the steel hull and machinery.
